At first it didn't work but regenerating the uImage manually with mkimage from u-boot-tools did the trick - the entry point wasn't correct. $ mkimage -A arm64 -O linux -T kernel -C none -a 0x1080000 -e 0x1080000 -n linux-next -d vmlinuz uImage I've set the entry point correctly and ... It boots!
